Roaming like desert animals that understand it's enough to find a few leaves or drops of blood to slip past another day is a film screening featuring artworks selected by Los Angeles-based artist Samar Al Summary, whose exhibition, Excavating the Sky, is currently on view in ICA LA’s Project Room.
The program brings together work by artists from across the regions of the Gulf, the Middle East, and North Africa who, like Al Summary, embrace the medium of film as a form of documentation, resistance, remembering, and imagination and a tool by which to cross the boundaries and borders that might otherwise keep us apart. Featured artists include Anhar, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Monira Basma Al Sharif, Samar Al Summary, Laith K. Daer, Ali Eyal, and Jumana Manna.
This screening of the full program in its entirety will be followed by a conversation between Al Summary and ICA LA Senior Curator, Amanda Sroka.
